About Us

Council of Canadians – Brockville Chapter

We are the Brockville, Ontario, chapter of the Council of Canadians. We are one of 70 local chapters across Canada. Chapters organize demonstrations, host public events, lobby politicians, work in local coalitions, write letters to the editor, show films, present speakers, create petitions and much more. We are the front line of the Council of Canadians, striving to build a better world. For some of our campaigns see the paragraph below. The Council of Canadians

Founded in 1985, the Council of Canadians is Canada’s leading social action organization. It consists of a network of 70 chapters across the country, and a staff of 38 leading numerous campaigns.

Through our campaigns we support democracy, Canadian sovereignty, clean water, fair trade, public health care, and community organizing. We educate and empower people to hold our governments accountable to the needs of the people rather than the demands of the corporations. We believe that water is a human right, that food should not be genetically engineered and that public health care must be both protected and strengthened. We  challenge government policy, and corporate power, expose the neoliberal ideology that favours the rich, the market, the corporations and the financiers, and creates radical inequality. We question the privatization of the commons.

Join us and be part of a global movement working for social and environmental justice. We believe a better Canada and a fairer world are possible. Together, we turn that belief into action.

The Council of Canadians is a registered non-profit organization and does not accept money from corporations or governments. Our work is sustained by the volunteer energy and generous donations of people like you.
